Cafeteria Reichenhainer Straße will be modernised and extended with additional seating and outdoor area

The first construction work for the renovation and redesign of the Reichenhainer Straße cafeteria already began last week. After completion of all work, the reopening is planned for October 2021. Then the cafeteria will show itself for the first time in a new look with elements of wood and industrial lamp design. The centrepiece will be the modernised and expanded offer section with a diverse and fresh all-day menu. With 190 seats and one or two artistic design highlights, the cafeteria will then once again be open to students, lecturers and guests of Chemnitz University of Technology as a cosy meeting place on campus. New outdoor seating facing Reichenhainer Straße will complement the indoor area. The costs of 2.1 million euros for the conversion and renovation measure are being borne entirely by the state of Saxony.
