Studying with a Child

The Student Services social counselling centre is the first point of contact for pregnant students and students with children. We’re here to listen to any questions you may have about this new phase of life.

We can advise you on practical matters relating to studying whilst raising a child, and we’ll provide you with an overview of the questions you may have during pregnancy and after the birth of your child.

  • The Studentenwerk Chemnitz-Zwickau issues a “Children’s Card” for students’ children. With this card, your child can receive a free children’s portion at lunch and dinner in our canteens until the age of 7. You can collect the full application form for the Children’s Card from the information desks in Chemnitz and Zwickau.

  • Are you a student or staff member at Chemnitz University of Technology? Are your days at university long, and are you looking for a place where you and your child can relax? Then the Zwergencampus on the Chemnitz campus is the perfect place for you: the facility features a spacious playroom, nappy-changing and breastfeeding areas, a place to warm up milk or baby food, and toilet facilities.

    The WHZ offers you a wide range of counselling and family-friendly services to help you successfully balance your studies and daily life with a child. In Zwickau, we partner with the “das GUT” nursery to provide nursery places for students.
