Unlike for studying in Germany, the responsibility for BAföG funding for study abroad lies only with the Office for Financial Study Assistance responsible for the country concerned, regardless of which German state you come from, or which university you have been studying at until now. The offices responsible for funding in other countries can be found on the Federal Ministry of Education and Research homepage.

Attention! From January 8 until January 16, 2026 BAföG-Digital will be undergoing maintenance work. During this period, BAföG-Digital will not be available to applicants and parents, but there will be no disadvantages in the processing of applications if your documents are received promptly after the maintenance work has been completed!
