Having a child changes the way parents (and parents-to-be) may have planned their life and education and often sees them facing challenging situations. Studentenwerk Chemnitz-Zwickau can help you to successfully deal with such challenges. We believe supporting young families to be an important part of our social mission. Therefore, we offer specially designed accommodation in Chemnitz and Zwickau and have highchairs, baby changing facilities and children’s play areas in our canteens.

The social counselling team at the Studentenwerk functions as a first port of call for pregnant students and students with children. You’ll always find someone here who is willing to listen to your problems and discuss your changing needs in this new phase of your life. Our staff can also provide tips and assistance to help you combine studying and parenting. We can help you figure out how to finance studying with a child, give you an overview of the social benefits you are entitled to and provide support when you need to deal with authorities.

Reopening of our parent-child room Zwergencampus!

We are happy to inform you that from April 20, 2023, students and employees of TU Chemnitz and the Studentenwerk Chemnitz-Zwickau can use our popular Zwergencampus, a special parent-child room of Studentenwerk Chemnitz-Zwickau, again!

Are you a student or employee of TU Chemnitz with child(ren)? The university days are long and you are looking for a place of retreat for you and your child to play, change diapers or breastfeed?

Then the Zwergencampus is the right place for you! The room offers a space to play, diaper-changing station and breastfeeding armchair, a kitchen and a bathroom.

How to get access to Zwergencampus?

The following steps will be necessary:

  • Registration via our Social Counseling Service: in person or by email: zwergencampus@swcz.de
  • Submitting your valid enrollment certificate or proof of employment of TU Chemnitz
  • After your successful registration you will receive an access card and further information about our house rules

* Please note that when using Zwergencampus the monitoring and supervisory duties stay with the parents and that no childcare can be offered by Studentenwerk!
